Modern electric systems now include a growing number of DC sources, such as PV panels, batteries, and fuel cells. Multi-active bridge (MAB) converters have been introduced to directly connect these DC links, offering the potential for greater efficiency, lower costs, and other key advantages. However, these benefits come with the challenge of more complex design and control. In this blog, ETUT researcher Peyman Koohi discusses the potential of MAB converters and shares his work on simplifying their design to make them more practical for future energy systems.
